Still in use by RAF today..
ODIHAM ,VALENTINES FARM:51.14N/00.56W:Private airstrip in use since 80s.(Grid ref SU740491) .
OLD THORNS HOTEL,Liphook:Helipad 2006..
OSSEMSLEY,nr New Milton:Private strip to SE of the village 2012..
OTTERBOURNE :In the 1970s there was a private strip to the north of Poles Lane
between Otterbourne and Hursley at (approx) N51.01/W01.21.30. .
OVERTON : 51 11 46N/01 15 59W:SU 514445 :Private airstrip in use in 70s.Located about 1 mile west of Popham.
Operated by Charles Church(confirmation of this would be nice ) on the Roundwood Estate.
Recent(late 90s) aerial pix show a strip running N-S.Used for Microlights in late 90s .
Is this still in use?(info via M Burney/R Ward) .
OVER WALLOP:Sudden Farm.Agricopters operated from here during 1978(until when ?).

POPHAM: Airfield.The only new airfield in the county since WW2.Opened originally as a private strip ,
by the early 80s had an ever growing population of light aircraft and microlights..
POPHAM:Roundwood Farm-(1 mile NW Popham airfield) private airstrip at 51.11.47N/01.15.54W .N/S grass runway..
PORTSDOWN: From at least 1930- 1938 a site at Wymering Race Course ,Portsdown Hill was used by the Portsmouth and Southsea Gliding Club.
PORTSMOUTH: In 1909/10 Mr Day of Portsmouth constructed a monoplane (picture below) which is believed to have been tested at the
Fort Grange Flying Ground Gosport (see Gosport Airfield).,
PORTSMOUTH: The two postcards below show Winston Churchill alighting from a BE2A (top) and a Wight Seaplane(lower).

PYLEWELL HOUSE/LYMINGTON:5045N/0130W.Advanced Landing Ground laid out in 1943.
Used April to June 1944 by USAAF.Then closed,site cleared.The site still has an private airstrip used by light aircraft. .
QUARLEY DOWN :Approx 51.10N/01.39W (About 5 miles NW of Middle Wallop.
Plans to build a USAAF transport base here during WW2 were abandoned..
RAMSDEAN:Twentyways Farm,Nr Peterfield..There is a private strip half a mile SE of the village.50.59.36N/00.58.53W Grass NE/SW.
There is a single T hangar at the western end...
RED LION COUNTRY INN,Clanville,Andover:Helipad , 2007..
RIDLEY PLAIN: Decoy Airfield Q160A, Burley (WW2) Dummy airfield or ‘Airfield Bombing Decoy Q160A’.
A decoy airfield for RAF Hurn to deflect enemy bombers from bombing Hurn. .....later used as a decoy for RAF Holmsley South.
It was in use during 1942 and was of the ‘Q’ type decoy which simulated an airfield at night via lights arranged to look like an airfield.
Nothing now remains of it. Location : SU 210 072.
ROCKBOURNE(N50.56.W001.49):During the build up to D Day the US Army operated L-4s of the 179th FA Gp from an airstrip here.
Exact location not known..
ROMSEY/210 MU. RAF non flying unit WW2..
ROMSEY/Paultons House: The Romsey Advertsier records that on 15th April 1910 “Mr Rowland Moon, a Southampton Aeroplanist,
made a proving flight in his aeroplane ‘Moonbeam’ from the paddock behind Paultons House.
During an attempt to take-off, after about 200 yards with the aeroplane about 4 feet above ground,
there was a sudden gust of wind and the tail was caught in branches of a tree.
The plane was lifted down and the only repairs required were new wheels”.
He later went on to fly from the site at North Stoneham Farm that would eventually become Eastleigh airfield.(Information via David Hornsby)..
ROMSEY/PAUNCEFOOT FARM:SU335197.There is a private strip here that is also used for visitors to the
Romsey Show and other events at Broadlands( info via R Ward).
ROUNDWOOD FARM: 1 mile west of Popham.Grass runway N-S.Originally used by the late Charles Church Spitfires.
Still maintained.See the aerial view above showing the close proximity of Popham(on the right) and Roundwood (extreme left)..
